The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History presents the History of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course and the beginning integration and the four African Americans who dared to tee off, in 1964, surrounded by an angry crowd. They were Mr. Clois Herndon, Mr. John Elam, Dr. Thompson (deceased), and Mr. Jenkins (deceased). Mr. John Elam and Mr. Clois Herndon, who continue be avid golfers, and supporters of the golf course locally known as the "Patch," will tell the chilling story of their experience!
